Beaches of St Martin

The island of Saint Martin hosts more than 30 beaches, some of the most beautiful in the Carribean. They are spread all over the island, both the French part and the Dutch part. None of the beaches of Saint Martin hosts black volcanic sand as found on the beaches of Martinique or on the beaches of Guadeloupe. They are all light sand, ranging from white to almost red depending on the location.

It is very difficult to define a classification of the most beautiful beaches of Saint Martin as expectations and opinions can differ. However, some beaches of Saint Martin are unmissable.

Orient Bay – Baie Orientale

Orient Bay Beach, also called Baie Orientale by French speakers, is located on the northeast coast of Saint Martin, in the French part of the island. It is a long sandy beach facing the clear, turquoise lagoon. To the north, from the lagoon, you will see the Pinel islet which you can access by boat or kayak.

The beach, quite touristy, is lined with rather trendy restaurants and bars. You can take advantage of the deckchairs offered by the restaurants or lay your towel directly on the beach.

The calm body of water is suitable for bathing young children.

At the back of the beach, a few hotels but also a large number of high quality St Martin villa rentals.

Anse Marcel

Located north of St Martin a few kilometers from Grand Case, Anse Marcel beach is a little out of the way and less crowded than others. Sheltered from the trade winds, the water is calm and its gently sloping beach is very pleasant for families with young children.

Grand Case Beach

The village of Grand Case which borders the beach is quite authentic and rather charming. The atmosphere is resolutely Creole!

Grand Case beach is a long, fairly narrow strip of white sand that overlooks a large lagoon of turquoise water. Several restaurants offer deckchairs, drinks and meals.

This beach of Saint Martin enjoys a very beautiful view of the neighboring island of Anguilla and it is one of the most beautiful beaches to admire the sunset.

Maho Beach

Here, the highlight is not the beach itself, but the spectacle of large planes taking off and landing just at the edge of the beach. It's impressive ! A must see !

Long Bay - Baie Longue

This very beautiful beach located in the southwest of the island, on the Dutch side, stretches for about 1.5 km on the edge of the most chic area of ​​the island. In fact, Terres Basse hosts the most beautiful luxury villa rentals in St Martin. It is also on Baie Long beach, also called Baie Longue, that the most beautiful 5* hotel on the island, the Samanna, is located.

The beach itself is magnificent, with white sand, turquoise water, pleasant seabed... It is large and is therefore never crowded.

Galion Beach

Located on the east coast of St Martin to the south of Orient Bay, Galion beach is probably one of the most beautiful on the island. It is the favorite family beach of Saint-Martin families because its water is calm and shallow.
